Description
The Tudor royal dynasty in England lasted just over a century, from 1485 to 1603. It started in dramatic fashion, when Henry Tudor, an earl with a very dubious claim to the throne and support from the King of France, launched an invasion of England. After defeating the House of York at the Battle of Bosworth Field, he was crowned Henry VII and began the topsy-turvy reign of the Tudors. In this book, Jasper Ridley, describes the grand pageantry of the age with depictions of bustling London and the beautiful countryside, costumes, furniture and food, travel, medicine, sports and pastimes, grand tournaments, and the great flowering of English drama.
