Poeta, ensayista, compositor y pintor, Rabindranath Tagore fue el primer escritor no europeo que ganó el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1913. Con su aspecto de gurú venerable, viajó por todo el mundo y fue el representante de la sabiduría oriental y símbolo del movimiento nacionalista indio. En 1914 publicó El jardinero, una recopilación de poemas que constituye uno de los ejemplos más perdurables del estilo sencillo pero profundo con el que Tagore supo cautivar a varias generaciones de lectores.
Description
Poet, essayist, composer and painter, Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. With his venerable guru appearance, he traveled the world and was the representative of Eastern wisdom and symbol of the movement. In 1914 he published The Gardener, a collection of poems that constitutes one of the most enduring examples of the simple but profound style with which Tagore knew how to captivate several generations of readers. --
